Los Villares, located in the foothills of the Sierra Sur mountains just a few kilometers from the capital of Jaén, is a town with a strong olive-growing tradition. Surrounded by a mid-mountain landscape covered in olive groves, this enclave combines ideal climatic and geographical conditions for the production of high-quality extra virgin olive oil .
With more than 6,500 hectares of olive groves and an estimated population of more than 800,000 olive trees , Los Villares bases a large part of its local economy on olive cultivation. The predominant variety is Picual , which produces full-bodied oils with an intense, green fruity flavor and excellent stability.
The altitude and cool temperatures of the area favor slower fruit ripening, resulting in EVOOs with a high concentration of natural antioxidants and a balanced sensory profile.
