Oro del Desierto Limited Edition Origen 500ml is a singular and exclusive extra virgin olive oil crafted from the native “Picual de Almería” variety, a nearly extinct gem recovered in the Tabernas Desert. This ancestral variety, deeply rooted in the province, offers a unique sensory profile and a complexity that sets it apart from any other.

A varietal recovery project

The Origen series is born from Oro del Desierto’s commitment to innovation and the preservation of traditional varieties. “Picual de Almería” is characterized by its very late ripening, reaching veraison with 70% green fruits during the first weeks of December. Its production is extremely limited, as it is only cultivated in small mountainous areas of Almería, one of them being the Tabernas Desert itself.

Production

The olives are hand-harvested from an estate located 850 meters above sea level and taken immediately to the mill for same-day pressing, ensuring maximum freshness and quality. This small estate yields a minimal production, bottled exclusively in 500 ml format as a limited edition.

Tasting notes

On the nose, it presents great aromatic complexity, with notes of freshly cut grass, green fruits, and hints of almond. On the palate, it stands out for its balance and harmony, with mild bitterness and spiciness, and an elegant, persistent finish.
