Refillable oil bottles will be banned from 1 January 2014.

A partir del 1 de enero de 2014 estarán prohibidas las aceiteras rellenables.

The government bans refillable oil bottles in bars and restaurants.

According to a report in El País today, oils offered in the hospitality industry must be protected to prevent their reuse.

The oils made available to consumers must be presented in labelled containers, be provided with an opening system that loses its integrity after its first use and have protection that prevents it from being refilled once its original content has been exhausted, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

The aim of this guarantee is to improve the quality and authenticity of olive oils made available to consumers and to improve product quality.
