Eight extra virgin olive oils from Jaén will receive the “Jaén Selección 2026” seal
The Provincial Council of Jaén has announced the extra virgin olive oils (EVOO) recognised with the Jaén Selección 2026 seal, an award that each year highlights excellence within the sector.
In this edition, the cooperative model took centre stage, as seven of the eight awarded oils belong to agri-food cooperatives, a fact welcomed by the provincial federation.
The eight oils of excellence
This year’s award winners are:
- Oro Bailén Picual
- Tierras de Canena Picual
- Balcón del Guadalquivir Premium Picual (Organic)
- Campos de Biatia La Dama Íbera Picual
- Jabalcuz Premium Brillo Picual
- Oro de Cánava Early Harvest Picual
- Puerta de Las Villas Organic
- Sierra Santo Tomé Picual
The triumph of collective effort
The fact that seven of the eight award-winning oils are produced by cooperatives is considered “particularly significant”, as it highlights the importance of this sector in the province of Jaén and its key role in transforming the olive-growing production model. This recognition is the result of the collective effort of thousands of farmers who have committed to quality, innovation and professionalisation through their cooperatives.
For years, cooperatives in Jaén have made significant investments in modernising olive mills, technical training, and improving early harvesting and milling processes. All of this, together with a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental respect, aims to produce top-quality oils capable of competing in national and international markets.
A pillar for rural development
Beyond its economic dimension, agri-food cooperativism plays an essential role in the social and territorial cohesion of the province. Its activity helps to retain population in rural areas, generate employment and ensure fair incomes for farmers. For all these reasons, the Jaén Selección 2026 awards recognise not only the quality of the oils, but also a solid cooperative model committed to the future of olive growing in Jaén.
International promotion of EVOO from Jaén
These EVOOs will display the Jaén Selección 2026 seal at international events such as Fitur, Madrid Fusión, San Sebastián Gastronomika, World’s 50 Best Restaurants, the Michelin Guide Spain Gala, Salón de Gourmets, Alimentaria, WOOE and the Fiesta del Primer Aceite de Jaén.
