The Origin of Castillo de Canena

With an olive-growing history dating back to 1780, the brand takes its name from the family castle in Canena (Jaén), in the heart of the Guadalquivir Valley. In 2003, the Vañó family launched their own brand focused on producing Premium EVOOs.

They control the entire process, from early harvest to milling in their own mill, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Cold chain management and extreme care ensure balanced, fruity, and intense oils year after year.

Innovation is one of their hallmarks: not only in cultivation but also in original products that expand EVOO uses. With a presence in more than 50 countries, they were also pioneers in certifying their CSR with the SGE-21 standard by Forética.

The Secret Lies in the Fields

The Castillo de Canena estate, in Úbeda (Jaén), borders the Sierra de Cazorla. On clay-loam soils at 500 m altitude, they cultivate traditional and semi-intensive olive trees of varieties such as Picual, Arbequino, and Royal, as well as less common varieties like Pico Limón, Don Carlo, and Taggiasca.

Precision agriculture, biodiversity, composting, and elimination of pesticides make their estates a true ecosystem respectful of the environment.
