Eight Jaén EVOOs to Receive the “Jaén Selección 2025” Distinction
The president of the Jaén Provincial Council, Francisco Reyes, has presented the eight extra virgin olive oils that will bear the “Jaén Selección” distinction during 2025, in recognition of their excellence in production.
The selected brands are:
- Oro Bailén
- Picualia
- Jabalcuz Premium
- Señorío de Camarasa
- Melgarejo
- Dominus Early Harvest
- O.Live EVOO (Organic)
- Oleícola Jaén (Organic)
“We choose the Oscars of olive oil worldwide because we are the leading producers of quality oil in the world. I congratulate mills and cooperatives for their great work,” declared Reyes from Cortijo El Madroño in Martos.
The announcement was accompanied by the mayor of Martos, Emilio Torres; the deputy for Promotion and Tourism, Francisco Javier Lozano; and Brígida Jiménez, head of the tasting panel and researcher at IFAPA in Cabra.
This year, 55 samples (40 conventional and 15 organic) from 45 companies in 35 municipalities were submitted, and for the first time, two organic oils have been recognized.
Reyes explained the new features, including earlier sample collection and an increase in the minimum homogeneous batch, justified by the growth in organic production and the need to ensure sufficient stock for promotion.
The panel was composed of experts from IFAPA (Cabra and Venta del Llano), the Institute of Fats in Seville, AEMO, the Junta de Extremadura, the DOP Priego de Córdoba, MAPA, the Córdoba Laboratory, and the Higher Institute of Agronomy of Lisbon.
